Bravely is for communities that are committed to take action on 3 agreements:
To re-envision success comprehensively and equitably, enabling core academic and life skills for each and every student.
To transform learning fundamentally, putting students at the center, as the only way to bring our revitalized vision of success to life.
To lead, learn, and model our vision of success organizationally, as our operating norms, to ensure that these changes endure.
Community
You’ll go far by going together. Bravely’s team-based experience is a place to practice the inclusive environment and trusting culture of learning that create the conditions in your schools that support student success.
Flexible Learning Journey
The year-long experience builds your team’s capacity in National Equity Project’s liberatory design and NGLC’s transformation design. Throughout the year, you will use new change practices and mindsets to invent creative and equitable solutions to a challenge of reimagining student success that you choose, collect and evaluate evidence, and craft plans to grow your efforts in the future.
Field-Leading Expertise
Bravely assembles skilled facilitators and experienced peers to coach you through your journey. And you have access to a suite of leading-edge, research-based resources, tools, and strategy templates for catalyzing change in student learning and school design, and building the culture and conditions that make it all possible.
Grant Funds
With generous funding from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, NGLC provides Bravely teams with a small grant to support personnel and associated costs of a Bravely commitment to reimagine student success.
NGLC has invested more than $90 million in educator and community-driven learning redesign. We have led multiple national networks, gathering hundreds of teams to address education’s most pressing challenges.
Bravely is the culmination of all this history and know-how as well as our deep commitment to a vision for K-12 education where each student has what they need to fulfill their greatest potential and contribute to building a healthy, just, equitable, and sustainable world.
Learn more about our work!
“We are working toward a new reality. This experience helped us in our quest.”
“We benefited from taking time to ‘pause’ to be sure we are creating space to collaborate fully with those most directly affected in the next phase of our work.”
“The conversation with our [colleagues from other districts] was extremely helpful to understanding the parallels and opportunities for moving our work further. I think we walked away with a good sense that our problem of practice is the right one and had a good opportunity to reflect on the challenges and begin to think about ways to work through them.”
The Bravely approach uses tested practices that districts like Vista Unified in California and Kettle Moraine in Wisconsin have used to successfully transform the learning experience for their students, as told in these videos.
Bravely in 2024-2025 is open to all public school types in the U.S. at any grade level, K-12. Teams may apply as an individual school or as a district/charter. We recommend teams of 5-6 members who will lead their community’s Bravely commitment to reimagine student success. Applications are due by Monday, April 15, 2024 at noon.
